
Designed to enable students to develop their skills to communicate with Deaf people in a range of everyday situations. Participating in longer, more varied conversations on real life, routine and daily experiences. Then being able to deal with most routine communications and enough understanding of grammar to cope with some non-routine communication. In addition you will be taught some regional variations in sign language.
Divided into 3 units which can be achieved separately, with BSL201 being covered before units BSL202 or BSL203. BSL201 is Receptive skills, BSL202 Productive skills and BSL203 Conversational skills. To achieve full certificate students must achieve all 3 units. Credit value at Level 2 is 15
Tuition is over 30 weeks split in 2.1/2 hour classes. Students are expected to complete additional study to BSL201: 20 hours, BSL202: 15 hours and BSL203: 15 hours. Record sheets will be given to record this as part of your course. Additional study can be completed by volunteering within the Deaf community, watching YouTube, Signed TV programs or Social Media
